The Pregnancy Due Date Calculator estimates your Estimated Due Date (EDD) using Naegele's Rule — the standard obstetric formula: LMP date + 280 days (40 weeks). This is the same method used by obstetricians worldwide for initial pregnancy dating. The tool also shows your current week of pregnancy, trimester, and key milestone dates throughout the pregnancy timeline.

Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters: First (weeks 1–13) — early development, highest miscarriage risk, common morning sickness; Second (weeks 14–27) — fetal movement begins, lower risk period, gender can often be determined; Third (weeks 28–40) — rapid fetal growth, preparation for delivery. Key dates include 37 weeks (full term) and 40 weeks (EDD).

The most accurate pregnancy dating method is early ultrasound (crown-rump length at 7–10 weeks), which is more accurate than LMP calculations, especially for women with irregular cycles. This tool adjusts for cycle length — a 35-day cycle means ovulation occurs around day 21 (vs day 14 for a 28-day cycle), which Naegele's formula must account for.

Common use cases

  • Calculating EDD from last menstrual period for initial pregnancy planning
  • Tracking current week of pregnancy for monitoring fetal development milestones
  • Planning maternity leave timing based on expected delivery date
  • Calculating when to schedule first trimester screening (10–13 weeks)
  • Finding key dates: NT scan, anomaly scan (18–20 weeks), glucose test (24–28 weeks)

Tips for best results

  • 1Write down your LMP date accurately — even a few days' error shifts the EDD significantly
  • 2First trimester ultrasound (7–10 weeks) gives more accurate EDD than LMP — use that date if available
  • 3EDD is an estimate: only 4–5% of babies are born on the exact due date; most are born within 2 weeks before or after
  • 4Full term starts at 37 weeks — babies born 37–42 weeks are 'term'
  • 5Schedule your first antenatal appointment by week 8–10 — before first trimester screening window (10–13 weeks)

Frequently asked questions

Is Konnect2Tools free?
Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
Do my files leave my device?
Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
Is the Pregnancy Due Date Calculator tool safe to use?
Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
How accurate is the LMP-based due date calculation?
The LMP-based EDD (Naegele's Rule) is accurate to ±2 weeks for women with regular 28-day cycles. For cycles shorter than 25 days or longer than 35 days, accuracy decreases. Early first trimester ultrasound (crown-rump length measurement at 7–10 weeks) is accurate to ±5 days and is the gold standard for dating. If ultrasound EDD differs from LMP EDD by more than 7 days, doctors use the ultrasound date.
What if I don't know my LMP date?
Use the conception date option if you know when you conceived (tracked ovulation, IUI, or IVF transfer date). For IVF, add 14 days to transfer date (5-day blastocyst) or 16 days (3-day embryo transfer) to get the equivalent LMP date. If both LMP and conception date are unknown, an early ultrasound is the only reliable dating method.
What does 'full term' mean?
Full term is 39–40 weeks. Early term: 37–38 weeks (some slightly elevated risks). Full term: 39–40 weeks (lowest risk, best outcomes). Late term: 41 weeks. Post-term: 42+ weeks (increased monitoring needed). Delivery before 37 weeks is 'preterm'. Babies born 37–42 weeks are all considered 'term' but 39–40 is optimal.
What are the major prenatal care milestones?
First appointment: before 10 weeks. NT scan: 11–13 weeks (chromosomal screening). NIPT/blood test: 10–14 weeks (optional). Anomaly scan: 18–20 weeks (detailed anatomy scan). Glucose challenge test: 24–28 weeks (gestational diabetes screening). Growth scans: 32–34 weeks (if needed). GBS test: 36 weeks. Weekly monitoring: 36+ weeks. These are guidelines; your OB/GYN's schedule takes precedence.
