IP Address Lookup
Look up your public IP address, location, ISP, and network details.
This operation uses an external service. Selected text or request data may leave your device. Check the operation details before continuing and avoid confidential inputs.
Run IP Address Lookup online
In-browserBrowser interface with external-service processing; see the note above.
Enable JavaScript to use the interactive tool. Read the instructions, limitations and FAQs below before starting.
The IP Address Lookup tool shows your public IP address along with geographic and network information — city, region, country, ISP, timezone, and approximate coordinates. Unlike your private IP (like 192.168.x.x shown on your router), your public IP is what every website, API, and service you visit can see and log.
The tool also lets you look up any IP address to see its registered location and ISP. This is useful for debugging network issues, verifying VPN/proxy connections, checking where a suspicious email originated, or identifying bot traffic sources in your server logs. Location data is based on IP geolocation databases and is accurate to city level for most IPs.
Privacy note: your IP address lookup is made directly from your browser to the ipapi.co API — Konnect2Tools never sees or logs your IP. IP geolocation data is accurate to country level for ~99% of IPs and city level for ~80%. VPNs, proxies, and Tor will show the exit node's IP and location, not your actual location — useful for verifying your VPN is working.
How to use this utility
- Use the controls below—paste text, pick files, or adjust options as described on the tool.
- Click the main action button. Processing runs in your browser on this device.
- Download or copy the output. Check the processing note for any external services used by this operation.
Common use cases
- Verifying that your VPN is connected and showing the correct exit country
- Debugging API failures by checking your actual IP matches your allowlisted IP
- Identifying the source country of an IP in server access logs
- Checking if a suspicious email header IP is a known spam source region
- Testing geolocation features of your web application from different IPs
Tips for best results
- 1If your VPN shows your real IP, the VPN connection has a leak — use a VPN with leak protection
- 2Many corporate networks use shared public IPs — all employees appear as the same IP to websites
- 3IPv6 lookup shows more accurate location than IPv4 for modern ISPs
- 4Compare your IP before and after connecting to VPN to verify the connection
- 5Use the IP lookup in debugging when an API says 'IP not whitelisted' — verify the actual IP your requests use
Frequently asked questions
- Is Konnect2Tools free?
- Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
- Do my files leave my device?
- Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
- Is the IP Address Lookup tool safe to use?
- Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
- Can websites see my exact home address from my IP?
- No. IP geolocation is accurate to city or postal code level at best, not street address. Only your ISP (Airtel, Jio, ACT etc.) can map your IP to your exact address — and only if required by law enforcement with proper warrants. Websites see your city and ISP at most.
- Why does my IP location show a different city?
- IP geolocation databases map IPs to the region where your ISP registered or allocated the IP block, which may differ from your actual location. This is common for mobile networks (your Jio IP may show Mumbai even if you're in Bengaluru) and corporate networks. VPN and CGNAT (carrier-grade NAT) also cause location mismatches.
- What is my private IP vs public IP?
- Your private IP (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x) is assigned by your router on your home network — websites cannot see this. Your public IP is assigned by your ISP to your home network and is visible to websites. One public IP is typically shared by all devices on your home network via NAT.
- Can I hide my real IP address?
- Yes — using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), which routes your traffic through a server in another location. Tor browser uses multiple hops for stronger anonymity. Proxy servers also mask your IP. Note: free VPNs often have DNS leaks (revealing your real IP) and log your traffic. For privacy, use reputable paid VPNs (NordVPN, Mullvad, ProtonVPN).
