Converting an Excel spreadsheet to PDF creates a fixed, print-ready document from data that can otherwise display differently across systems — different column widths, font substitutions, and formula display issues can all distort a spreadsheet when viewed by a recipient without Excel. A PDF ensures the exact appearance you designed.
This tool converts .xlsx and .xls files into paginated PDFs, fitting your spreadsheet's columns onto standard A4 or Letter pages. It handles multiple sheets (each sheet becomes a separate page range), cell formatting, merged cells, conditional formatting colours, and embedded charts.
Finance teams regularly convert monthly reports, budget summaries, and P&L statements from Excel to PDF for management distribution. HR teams convert payroll summaries. Teachers convert grade books. Businesses convert inventory sheets for client-facing delivery. The PDF format ensures that the carefully designed table layout isn't accidentally modified by the recipient.

- Converting a financial model or budget spreadsheet to PDF for a board presentation.

Tips for best results
- 1Set a print area in Excel (Page Layout → Print Area) before converting to control exactly which cells are included in each PDF page.
- 2Use 'Fit to Page' in Excel's Page Setup before converting so your spreadsheet doesn't get cut off at the edge of a page.
- 3Check that header rows repeat on each page (Page Setup → Sheet → Rows to repeat at top) for long spreadsheets.
- 4For multi-sheet workbooks, confirm whether you want all sheets or only the active sheet exported — configure this in the conversion options.
- 5Conditional formatting colours and chart colours should convert correctly, but verify on a test sheet with complex formatting first.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Konnect2Tools free?
- Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
- Do my files leave my device?
- Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
- Is the Excel to PDF tool safe to use?
- Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
- Will formulas be shown as values or as formula text in the PDF?
- Formulas are shown as their calculated values, not as formula text. The PDF captures the spreadsheet's current display state, exactly as you see it on screen.
- My spreadsheet has many columns that extend beyond one page — will they be cut off?
- By default, columns that exceed the page width are cut off to fit standard page dimensions. Set a print area and enable 'Fit all columns on one page' in Excel's Page Setup before uploading to force all columns onto one page (at reduced scale).
- Can I convert a password-protected Excel file?
- Not directly — password-protected Excel files cannot be opened without the password. Remove the password in Excel first (Review → Protect Sheet/Workbook → Remove), save, then upload for conversion.
- Does the PDF preserve hyperlinks in cells?
- Yes — clickable hyperlinks in Excel cells are converted to active hyperlinks in the PDF output.
