The TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) Calculator helps both payers and recipients understand applicable TDS rates across various payment types under the Indian Income Tax Act. TDS is a mechanism where the payer deducts tax at the time of payment and deposits it with the government on behalf of the recipient. This creates a continuous tax collection flow rather than a year-end lump sum.
India has over 30 TDS sections covering salary (192), interest (194A), rent (194I), professional fees (194J), contractor payments (194C), commission (194H), e-commerce (194O), and more. Each section has its own threshold limit and tax rate. Our calculator helps you quickly identify the right section for your payment type, the applicable rate, and the exact TDS amount to deduct.
For recipients, understanding TDS helps in accurate ITR filing. TDS deducted appears in Form 26AS and AIS on the income tax portal and can be claimed as a tax credit. For payers, correct TDS deduction and timely deposit (by the 7th of the next month) avoids interest (201A) and late filing fees (234E) at ₹200 per day.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Konnect2Tools free?
- Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
- Do my files leave my device?
- Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
- Is the TDS Calculator tool safe to use?
- Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
- What is the difference between TDS and advance tax?
- TDS is deducted by the payer at the source of income. Advance tax is paid by the recipient on their own initiative based on estimated total income. Both are forms of prepaid tax credits that reduce final liability when filing ITR.
- Can I avoid TDS on FD interest?
- Yes. Submit Form 15G (for individuals below 60) or Form 15H (for senior citizens) to the bank declaring that your income is below the taxable limit. This prevents the bank from deducting TDS under Section 194A.
- What happens if TDS is not deducted?
- The payer becomes liable to pay the TDS amount along with interest at 1% per month from the date it should have been deducted to the actual deduction date, and 1.5% per month from deduction date to deposit date. Additionally, disallowance of 30% of the expense is possible.
- How do I check TDS deducted on my payments?
- Log in to the income tax portal (incometax.gov.in), go to 'View AIS/TIS' under e-File or check Form 26AS. It shows all TDS deducted by employers, banks, clients, and other payers against your PAN throughout the year.
