The Age Calculator computes your exact age from a date of birth to any target date, breaking it down into years, months, days, hours, and even minutes. Unlike a simple year subtraction, our calculator handles month-end edge cases, leap years, and partial months correctly to give you the precise age that matches official Indian documents and government systems.

Beyond the immediate age display, the calculator shows total days lived, weeks, months, and hours — useful for milestone birthdays, age verification for government schemes, medical forms, insurance applications, and official documents. It also counts down days to the next birthday, which makes it fun to use for birthday planning.

Age calculations are relevant across many Indian government contexts: Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (minimum 10 years), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (below 10 years at opening), Senior Citizen benefits (60+ years), EPF withdrawal eligibility (58 years), NPS annuity purchase (60 years), and many scholarship and competitive exam age limits.

Tips for best results

  • 1Use the as-of date feature for exam applications with specific eligibility cutoff dates
  • 2Check your age on both January 1 and April 1 — many schemes use different reference dates
  • 3Senior citizen benefits start from the exact birthday when you turn 60 — not just the year
  • 4Passport applications require age within specific bands — use this to verify validity
  • 5For court and legal purposes, age is calculated to the day of the proceeding, not year of birth

Frequently asked questions

Is Konnect2Tools free?
Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
Do my files leave my device?
Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
Is the Age Calculator tool safe to use?
Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
How is exact age calculated when months are different lengths?
The standard method: subtract birth year/month/day from target date. If the day of birth is greater than the target day in the current month, borrow one month and add the days in the previous month. If the resulting month is negative, borrow one year and add 12 months. This gives the correct year/month/day breakdown.
What age is considered a senior citizen in India?
For most purposes (concessions in railways, airlines, banks), 60 years and above. For income tax, senior citizens (60–80 years) get enhanced basic exemption. Super senior citizens (80+) get further enhanced limits. The Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS) requires age 60+ (or 55+ for retired government employees).
What is the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana age limit?
SSY accounts can be opened for a girl child below 10 years of age. The account matures 21 years from opening or on marriage after 18. The account can be opened from birth (Day 1) up to the day before the 10th birthday.
Why does my age differ by one day in different calculators?
Different calculators use different conventions for inclusive/exclusive counting. Some count the birth day as Day 0, others as Day 1. Our calculator uses the standard legal convention where age increases on the birthday itself — if today is your birthday, you have just completed another year.
