The Currency Converter helps you convert between Indian Rupees (INR) and 13 major world currencies — USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SGD, CAD, AUD, JPY, CNY, CHF, SAR, and QAR. While this tool uses indicative exchange rates that you can manually update, it provides instant conversion for travel planning, international payment estimation, remittance calculation, and import/export pricing.

The Indian Rupee has seen significant movement against major currencies in recent years. The RBI's intervention policy, US Federal Reserve rate decisions, and India's trade deficit collectively influence the INR-USD rate. As of early 2026, USD-INR is approximately ₹83–84, while the EUR-INR rate is around ₹90–92. These rates fluctuate daily, making a real-time check essential for transactions above ₹50,000.

For NRIs sending remittances to India, the best exchange rates are available through authorized money transfer services. Banks typically offer rates 1–3% above the interbank rate, while wire transfers have fixed fees of $15–45. Services like Wise (TransferWise) and Remitly often offer mid-market rates with lower fees for large remittances. Our tool helps NRIs quickly estimate how many rupees their foreign income translates to.

Tips for best results

  • 1Always check bank's TT buying/selling rate — it differs from mid-market rate by 1–3%
  • 2For large amounts (above ₹5 lakh equivalent), negotiate forex rates directly with your bank's dealing desk
  • 3Forex cards are better than cash for international travel — better rates and safer than carrying cash
  • 4RBI's reference rate is published daily at rbi.org.in — use it as the benchmark
  • 5Wire transfer fees are fixed ($15–45) — batch larger remittances rather than multiple small ones

Frequently asked questions

Is Konnect2Tools free?
Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
Do my files leave my device?
Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
Is the Currency Converter tool safe to use?
Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
What is the best way to get USD in India?
Authorized forex dealers (banks, Thomas Cook, BookMyForex) offer the best rates. Compare the TT buying rate across 2–3 providers. BookMyForex and Extravelmoney often beat bank rates. Avoid airport counters — they charge 5–8% premium. Order in advance to get the best rate.
How do NRIs remit money to India most cheaply?
Wise (TransferWise) typically offers mid-market rates with low fees for most corridors. ICICI Money2India, Western Union, and bank wire transfers vary. For the best rate, compare at xe.com or comparemoney.in. Avoid sending in foreign currency and asking the Indian bank to convert.
Why does my bank give a different rate than this calculator?
This calculator uses indicative approximate rates. Banks add a margin of 0.5–3% over the interbank rate. The 'TT rate' (telegraphic transfer) is the standard for wire transfers; 'cash rate' adds a further 1–2% for physical currency. Your rate depends on the transaction type, amount, and bank.
Is there a limit on bringing foreign currency into India?
You can bring any amount of foreign currency into India but must declare amounts above $5,000 in cash (or $10,000 in total including traveler's cheques) to customs upon arrival. FEMA rules require that foreign currency received must be converted to INR within a specified time unless held in an RFC/EEFC account.
