The Timezone Converter helps you instantly find the equivalent time in 14 major world timezones from any IST (Indian Standard Time) input. India operates on a single timezone (UTC+5:30) with no daylight saving time, but most countries our colleagues and clients are in observe DST — meaning the offset from IST changes by 1 hour in summer months.
For Indian IT professionals, BPO employees, and remote workers, managing calls across EST, PST, GMT, SGT, and AEST is a daily challenge. Our tool converts from IST to all selected timezones simultaneously, making it easy to find a mutually convenient slot for international meetings without mental arithmetic.
Key offsets from IST: New York (EST −10:30, EDT −9:30), London (GMT −5:30, BST −4:30), Dubai (GST −1:30), Singapore (SGT +2:30), Sydney (AEST +4:30, AEDT +5:30). These offsets shift by one hour when US/Europe observes Daylight Saving Time (March–November), which is why a fixed offset memory doesn't work.

Tips for best results
- 1IST is UTC+5:30 with no daylight saving — the offset with other countries changes when they observe DST
- 2US Eastern Time is UTC−5 (EST) in winter and UTC−4 (EDT) in summer — both are 9:30–10:30 hours behind IST
- 3Best overlap for IST + US East Coast calls: 7–10 PM IST = 9–11:30 AM EST/EDT
- 4Best overlap for IST + London: 1–4 PM IST = 7:30–10:30 AM GMT (winter)
- 5Use https://worldtimebuddy.com for extended scheduling across many timezones
Frequently asked questions
- Is Konnect2Tools free?
- Yes. These in-browser tools are completely free to use with no account required for core functionality.
- Do my files leave my device?
- Browser document operations run locally, except where the operation uses an external service, such as AI summarisation. Read the processing note before using sensitive inputs.
- Is the Timezone Converter tool safe to use?
- Local operations process document content on your device. External-service operations may send inputs as described in the processing note. Keep originals and inspect the output.
- Why does IST have a 30-minute offset (UTC+5:30)?
- IST was standardized in 1905 based on the longitude of Allahabad (82.5°E × 4 min/degree = 330 minutes = 5 hours 30 minutes from UTC). Many countries have half-hour or quarter-hour offsets — India, Iran (UTC+3:30), Afghanistan (UTC+4:30), and Nepal (UTC+5:45) are examples.
- Does India observe daylight saving time?
- No. India does not observe DST. IST is always UTC+5:30 throughout the year. This means the offset between IST and countries that observe DST (US, Europe, Australia) changes by 1 hour in spring when those countries advance their clocks. This is why a fixed 'IST to EST is -10:30' can be wrong for part of the year.
- What is the best time for a call between India and the US West Coast?
- US Pacific Time (PST) is UTC−8 (winter) or UTC−7 (PDT, summer). Offset from IST: −13:30 (winter) or −12:30 (summer). For a workday call: 8 AM PST = 9:30/10:30 PM IST. Best window: 8–10 AM PST = 9:30 PM – 11:30 PM IST. It requires one party to work late or early.
- What timezone do Indian stock exchanges and banks use?
- All Indian financial markets, banks, and government systems use IST (UTC+5:30). NSE and BSE trading hours: 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM IST. For international cross-border transactions, SWIFT and correspondent banks use their local cutoff times — check with your bank for same-day processing deadlines for forex or international wire transfers.
